About rural New South Wales

How many rural properties does AgDSS cover in New South Wales?

AgDSS covers 754,626 rural lots across 110 councils and 3,374 rural suburbs in New South Wales. Rural lots are those in a rural (RU) zone under the local environmental plan.

What does each council page show?

Every council page carries the land-capability mix, carbon and vegetation cover, water access, hazard exposure, infrastructure and rural market activity. Each council page also lists every rural suburb in it, with a link through to a suburb-scale deep dive.

Where does this data come from?

Land capability comes from the NSW Land & Soil Capability mapping. Carbon stock is derived from the ESA Climate Change Initiative Biomass product. Vegetation cover is Digital Earth Australia Fractional Cover from Sentinel-2. Rural market activity is from registered NSW property sales on rural-zoned lots. Land use is the ABARES Catchment Scale Land Use category, and lot identity comes from the NSW Digital Cadastral Database.

What's in the AgDSS app that isn't on this site?

These pages summarise a whole suburb or council. The AgDSS app works at the property level: a full report for a specific address, an interactive intelligence map across every rural lot, and an assistant that answers questions about that property. Sign-up is free.
